Lianne’s Story
How it started …

Lianne Godfrey “ Having had my little boy Asher, I was enthusiastic and determined to offer him all the learning opportunities possible, particularly messy play. Offering this at home was daunting and overwhelming thinking about all the mess and organisation it required. I looked around in Cape Town for sensory messy play classes but soon realised there was nothing on offer for young children in this area of development. I was hoping to find classes that were creative, messy and fun with the opportunity for my boy and I to socialise. This led me to start my own tailor-made programme based and adapted on international models of sensory messy play, which I had experienced while living in the UK”
A little about me…..
I am thrilled to have returned to South Africa after living in London for 12 years, where I graduated with both a BSc Honours in Psychology and a MSc degree in Organisational Psychology. Much of my experience was gained while co-founding and teaching in a private school in North West London for 10 years. I qualified in Children’s Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and provided intense one-to-one sessions and support with severely disabled children, their families and schools across London. This is where my love for all things sensory evolved. I trained in health and safety regulations, first aid procedures and special educational needs. I hold a “Safer Recruitment in Schools UK” and an “Early Years Foundation Stage UK” certificate.
In total I have been teaching and working with children and in the education sector for over 20 years. Play.Lab allows me the opportunity to use my international experience and education within South Africa and continue making a positive impact on children and family wellbeing.
Please contact me if you have any questions and I hope to see you in a Play Lab session soon.
